The Carlsberg Research Center is located in Copenhagen-Valby, and comprises the Carlsberg Laboratory and the Carlsberg Research Laboratory. At the Carlsberg Research Laboratory, applied brewing-related research is carried out focusing on yeast, barley and analytical chemistry. Carlsberg Research Laboratory is looking for an Applied Research Scientist to work with yeast and micro-organisms.ChallengesYour primary responsibilities will include the discovery and development on new yeasts capable of delivering new characteristics, a core area of research for Carlsberg, the elucidation of certain mechanisms and yeast responses related to yeast genetics make up and physiology. Furthermore you will participate and support planning, set-up, coordination and analysis of laboratory and pilot brewery trials. Finally, you will be involved with formulation and implementation of new yeast management guidelines for production.QualificationsYou hold a PhD degree in life science, with a solid physiology, biochemistry, yeast genetics and molecular biology background. Knowledge of microbiology, fermentation and yeast physiology as well as their uses in brewing would be beneficial, but not a condition. You will preferably have post-doc laboratory experience and ideally have worked with trials (set-up, data collection, project management and reporting). On the personal level, we expect that you are a team worker who is also able to work independently. You have an open innovative mind, a positive attitude, and good communication skills.
